What days and hours are you open?
Our centers are open Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 6:00pm. We observe major holidays are closed on: New Years, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.


What is the teacher to child ratio?
Ratios will vary by classroom. At A Mother’s Touch we follow the requirements set by the State of Illinois and maintain a class size that allows teachers to personally interact with children. Additional staffing is provided for the Infant, Toddler and 2’s classrooms to assist with meal time, naps and toilet training.


Will I receive a written report of how my child is doing?
Children are assessed on a ongoing basis. Teachers in the PreSchool and Kindergarten classrooms use either the portfolio technique or skill assessment cards to report progress. Parent conferences are generally held twice a year.


How do you communicate with parents?
Our Center Directors have an open door policy. You may stop in at any time or call to schedule a meeting. Teachers communicate with parents on a daily basis during drop-off and pick-up. Parents with younger children receive daily information sheet’s outlining their child’s feeding and care. Our Parent Boards and quarterly newsletters also provide additional information on news and upcoming events.


What if my child has food allergies?
As a parent, you are required to provide us with allergy information for inclusion in a child’s medical file. The child’s teacher and cooking staff are alerted to any food allergies and substitutions are made based on a child’s individual needs.


Do the children take field trips?
Yes, we occasionally take age-appropriate field trips to enrich the learning experience. We have strict procedures in place to ensure the safety and security of the children and parents are always welcome to attend.


How are children disciplined?
Our policy is one of positive reinforcement, classroom management and role-modeling of appropriate behavior. We encourage children to use words to express feelings and teach them problem solving skills. We use a proactive approach of time with children, instead of time-outs.


How is tuition paid?
Tuition is due in advance and can be paid on weekly, monthly or annual basis. Personal checks are accepted for tuition payments and can be dropped into the payment box located in the office. Cash and credit cards are not currently accepted.


Do I pay for days my child is absent?
Yes. Our expenses to run the center continue even though your child is absent. Your tuition payment guarantees your child’s reserved space.


Do you offer full-time and part-time programs?
Yes, we offer a variety of options to parents including: full day, 1/2 day, full week, 2-3 days per week, and traditional morning preschool from 9-11:30am.


Is your center located in a secure building?
Yes. Our centers are located in residential areas and our buildings are secured with a locking door system. Enrolled parents are given an individual access code or card to enter the building.


When does registration take place?
You may enroll your child anytime throughout the year. However the months of January and September are extremely busy enrollment periods, therefore we recommend your visit our center and register early to ensure a space for your child.
